5 Essential Style Hacks to Elevate Your Look

Neutral Shoes and Accessories

If you've been with us for a while, you'll understand the significance of curating a capsule wardrobe tailored to your unique lifestyle needs, ensuring you always have the perfect outfit for any occasion. In this post, we delve into 5 key style hacks to elevate your look, as well as tips for keeping your capsule wardrobe fresh, modern, and effortlessly chic and modern!

1. ELEVATE YOUR FOOTWEAR

Shoes are the foundation of any outfit, and a simple swap can dramatically update your style. While round-toe shoes, such as ballet pumps, may be comfortable and on-trend right now, they can appear dated and mumsy. Instead, opt for a more elegant shoe style like a sock boot. Kitten heels, or mid-size heels which are easier to wear than high heels. If you prefer flats then pointed or more square toed shoes elongate the frame, giving you a more flattering and sophisticated silhouette.

2. RETHINK YOUR DENIM

It's time to ditch the skinny jeans – at least for now. They've fallen out of fashion, especially when paired with a tight top, so embrace a more relaxed fit that complements your shape and lifestyle. Remember, it's crucial to consider your footwear choice with each pair of jeans. For instance, if you're petite, like Melissa at 5'3", she can only wear a boot cut jean with high-heeled shoes, which will create a more formal look. On the other hand, if she wants to wear flat shoes, then an ankle grazer style of jean will be more appropriate.

3. DITCH THE BLACK

Ditching the black is another of Melissa's essential style hacks to elevate your look. While black has long been a wardrobe staple, it can often feel predictable and aging, and drain our complexions, especially as we get older. Contrary to popular belief, black doesn't pair well with everything, and often, you'll need something white to pull all the elements together, as demonstrated in this YouTube video. Why not try navy blue as a sophisticated alternative? It offers depth, texture, and will slim down your frame just like black. Burgundy, along with various shades of brown, from light camel to rich chocolate, are elegant options that complement a wide range of skin tones without draining your complexion.

4. WEARING NEUTRALS IN WINTER

Don't shy away from neutrals during the colder months, it's such a classic look when done well! The key to wearing winter whites and other neutrals is finding the shade that best suits your skin tone. For the look to work, ensure that the fabric of your layering pieces reflects the season to maintain a cohesive look. Neutrals are a great mood booster and brighten up. dull winter's day.

5. STRUCTURED VS CURVED CLOTHING

Structured clothing can magically disguise larger busts, stomachs, sloping shoulders, and even bingo wings! Angles, especially across the shoulders, can help recreate an hourglass shape and balance your proportions. On the other hand, curved clothing is more relaxed and follows the body's silhouette. So, if you're self-conscious about certain body parts and want to balance your figure, then opt for structured clothing. It will make you appear overall smaller and more put-together. Watch this video and see the theory come to life.
