THE MAGIC OF THE HOURGLASS BALANCING METHOD®

If you've followed us for a while you'll know that the key to styling any body shape is to apply our revolutionary Hourglass Balancing Method®, you can see this in action on any of our YouTube videos, so with that in mind, here's a few things to bear in mind if you have a large bust.

1. SUPPRORT

Let's start with the basics, the foundation of every great look is the right bra. Ensuring you wear the right bra size will not only offer comfort and support but also make sure your clothes fit and hang better. It's crucial that your bra has the strength to support your bust comfortably.

2. NECKLINES

When styling a large bust, high necklines like turtlenecks and crewnecks can make your bust appear even larger and create a boxy silhouette. These styles draw attention to the chest, to divert attention away from the bust and bring your figure into balance choose a V-neck or lower necklines that break up the bust and shoulder line to create a flattering, elongating effect that draws the eye downward balancing your proportions.

3. BROADEN YOUR SHOULDERS

Choose tops, jackets, dresses, and jumpsuits with a strong shoulder details and structure . This doesn’t necessarily mean adding bulk but choosing styles where the seams align perfectly at the edge of your shoulders. This creates a line that balances the volume of your bust. And remember, to use shoulder pads if your top doesn't have them built in!

4. MATCH VOLUME TO CREATE BALANCE

For a balanced figure, match the volume at the top with volume at the bottom of your outfit. Don't fall into the common trap of highlighting a smaller bottom half as it'll make you look top-heavy. Try pairing a fitted top with wide-legged trousers instead of leggings for example. The idea is to rebalance your shape, not hide it. Watch Melissa demonstrate this principle in this video.

5. CREATE VERTICAL LINES

Add vertical lines to your outfits with layers such as longline cardigans, unbuttoned shirts, and lightweight jackets. Also, use scarves and a longer necklace to break up the bust area. This technique helps elongate your torso and draws the eye downward rather than across the bust.

Opt for comfortable fabrics that drape well and avoid stiff, heavy materials that add bulk to your bust area. Lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton, jersey, and silk can be your best friends.

We hope you find these tips on how to dress a large bust helpful. These strategies aren't about hiding your figure—everyone should be proud of their curves. Instead, they are designed to help you enhance and rebalance your natural shape so that you can look fabulous and feel confident in your clothes.
